Horse Management Lesson Day over Winter Break

The girls enjoyed a day-long Horse Management lesson day at the barn on Tuesday of Winter Break! We worked on Pony Club study guides, played a round of quiz rally style classroom trivia, and then played board games till the Pizza Hut delivery man arrived with lunch!
After lunch, the girls pulled out the Visible Horse Model kits!
It turned out to be a challenging project for all!

Kelsey, Alicia, Kristy and Georgia worked on the bones/skeleton

Elizibeth, Melanie, Chloe, Lindsay, Megan and Elizabeth worked on painting the guts!
They painted everything from hearts to intestine to major veins and arteries!

Sarah was a big help to figure out which parts were which.
At one point, we had a hard time distinguishing between the liver and brains!

Outside the lounge window was Seanie, Anthony and Elijah
having a great time sledding down the drift between the barn and granary!

Dec 29 - KEPCRC Lesson Day Lisa!

The members of KEPCRC enjoyed spending the day with Lisa
from Racine County Pony Club. She worked with 11 members on Quiz prep -
with a mock classroom and barn phase competition.
3 members did Acheivement Badge Testing and several
more participated in group riding lessons in the afternoon!

Lisa talked to the group about Quiz Rally in the lounge
Even Romeo/Pipsqueak kitty enjoyed watching lessons
- Georgia's shoulders made a great kitty chair!
The girls got cozy in the tack room for badge testing.

2008 Winter Break Kids Camp - Dec 28!

We had 7 campers enjoy their day at the farm!
Marissa had great form on Angel - was it from her new half chaps????

Katie was moving along on Misty pony!

Abby improved her skills at this camp - she even trotted on her own!

Team Driving Day for Angel and Misty pony

Dave Kluge and Roxanne came over Christmas vacation to help fit the team harness to Angel and Misty and attempt to drive them together!

Heather all bundled up and ready to go!

Roxanne walked beside Angel for "quality control"
while Dave drove them together for the first time.

Dave concentrating on his job!

Things went well and Anthony even got to go for a ride on his saucer sled!

Snow Day at KEC

Minnie was carefully balancing on the drift on the side of the mare paddock ramp and digging/eating the fresh snow! I was afraid she'd fall into the drift and slide down the side, but she was just fine!!!
Fancy found herself a new friend in Pepper pony.
She enjoyed "herding" him around the paddock like a little pet!
He wasn't so excited about it, but was a good sport!

The horses all enjoyed a good run and roll after getting let out of their stalls from being in for two days during a December blizzard!

Clarabel was kicking it up!

The Geldings quickly made their way through the drifts
to check on the condition of their round bale.

The granary paddock horses were digging through the snow to "graze" on the grass below.

Minnie's new look - a snowy makeover- snow mascara and eye liner!

Joanie and Apache were racing each other!

It was a bit overwhelming in the morning to look out of the house
and see that the drifts were taller than I am!

Looking from the house - the regular path from house to barn was pretty much non-existant and waist deep!
